Dubai World offers ‘shortfall guarantee’

United Arab Emirates: Dubai World has offered creditors a ‘shortfall guarantee’ as part of a repayment plan, Bloomberg has reported, citing a person close to the Dubai government. If the sale of Dubai World’s assets does not generate sufficient cash to repay loans, the government will make up the shortfall up to a certain level, the person told the news service. SBI may extend teaser rates

SingTel may back Bharti, Zain deal

Bharti makes offer for Zain Africa’s assets

India’s Bharti Airtel has offered $10.7bn to buy most of Kuwait Zain’s African assets, the companies said. Zain and Bharti will hold exclusive negotiations until March 25 on the deal, which would create one of the largest emerging-markets phone operators. The proposal does not include Zain’s Morocco or Sudan operations and is subject to due diligence and regulatory approval.
