The QE Index ended 0.18% lower at 7,422.96 points mainly due to minor losses in the insurance sector. The Management of QE would like to inform the investors and market participants that Qatar Exchange will be closed from Sunday 12 September up to and including Tuesday 14 September 2010 in occasion of Eid Al-Fitr. Trading will be resumed on Wednesday 15 September 2010. Depending on moon sighting, if Eid Al – Fitr starts on Thursday September, 9, the QE will be closed as well on that day.

Compensation and Personnel Manager at Confidential Company
Reports to: Human Resources Director
JOB PURPOSE:
To develop, ensure implementation of and monitor appropriate personnel policies and procedures, applicable across the Company, relating to various aspects of performance management, rewards and compensation, and other aspects of Human Resources administration.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
-Develops and drafts for implementation across the company appropriate policies, systems and procedures for all aspects of Human Resources administration in line with overall HR philosophy and guidelines of the Group.
-Study and analyse remuneration trends regularly across the country and GCC if applicable, establish benchmarks for comparison and implement the most suitable remuneration and rewards system for the group.
-Develop creative alternatives for remuneration and benefits to attract and retain the right kinds of skills in the different units.
Guidance and discussions with business units:
-Studies the external environment and industry best practices to bring in the best systems and personnel policies into Al-Rajhi for Real Estate Investments which would enhance effectiveness of the workforce.
-Ensures preparation and regular updating of policy manuals, and authorises and controls their distribution across group companies.
-Monitor the financial performance of the compensation and Policy section against budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.
-Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls across the compensation and Policy section to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/e and a responsible environmental attitude.

Kuwait National Petroleum signs $407m contract with Maire Tecnimont
Kuwait National Petroleum has announced the signing of a KD117m ($407m) contract with Italy’s Maire Tecnimont for an acid gas removal project at the Mina Al- Ahmadi refinery, Bloomberg has reported. Mina Al-Ahmadi is the biggest of Kuwait’s three refineries and has a capacity of 460,000 barrels a day. The contract is for three years.

Kuwait’s Burgan set for bond issue roadshow
Kuwait’s Burgan Bank is planning a roadshow for a dollar-denominated bond issue soon, Reuters has reported. In June, Burgan’s chairman Majed Eisa al-Ajeel said the lender would issue bonds worth up to KD140m ($486.1m), and may sell some of the issue to foreign investors, with the priority remaining with the local market. JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Standard Chartered are arranging the roadshow.

SAMA reveals Saudi bank holiday dates
The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) has announced the bank holidays for Eid al-Fitr will begin on Tuesday September 7, Arab News has reported. The ADX General Index (up 0.40% at 2,517.39 points) saw shares of Union Cement Co. from Ras al-Khaima posting the largest gain (8.46% higher at Dhs1.41). TDIC appointed operator of Hili Fun City

Sepco III and Al-Arrab win Ras al-Zour contract
Saudi Arabia’s Saline Water Conversion Corp (SWCC) has awarded Al-Arrab Contracting Co (ACC) and its Chinese partner Sepco III Electric Power Construction Corp the $2.42bn contract to build the electricity generation component of the Ras al-Zour power and water project, Meed has reported. The combined-cycle power plant will have a capacity of 2,800MW when the three and a half year contract is completed in early 2014.

Al-Futtaim signs Dh6b deal

Overseas expansion on the horizon

Abu Dhabi bourse adds half a percent
Positive inputs from oversee markets along with stabilising oil prices lifted the ADX General Index by 0.51% to 2,507.26 points. Shares of Dana Gas (up 1.30% at Dhs0.78) were most liquid in relation to trading volumes as the firm said it has made another gas discovery in Egypt, the firm’s fourth gas find in the country. In addition, the Sharjah-based gas firm announced the commencement of new production in August from the Sharabas & Faraskur fields via its El Wastani gas plant in Egypt. National Bank of Umm al-Qaiwain (NBQ) posted the largest advance, finishing 4.35% higher at Dhs2.40.
