Our client, the largest retail pharmacy chain in the Middle East and North Africa serving more than 300 million customers annually is currently seeking to recruit Application ManagerYou will be responsible for improving the cost, performance, availability and manageability of applications across their full life cycles. You will help integrate and gain consistency in the way the application development, testing and operation organizations deal with applications. The individual creates the guidelines and rules that form the basis of a framework for making decisions about applications throughout their life cycle – that is, the plan, build and run stages. You will be responsible for the overall Systems Development Life Cycle and maintenance of the business applications software. The Manager delivers solutions that ensure compatibility and integration with IT strategies and business plans while establishing standards and guidelines for improving the applications delivery processes.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesDefine guidelines and rules for managing application architectures. These guidelinesand rules will include planning and gaining consensus for business metrics, a common taxonomy for application management, IT performance metrics, and ownership and custodianship of the application portfolio. Execute the processes relevant to supporting applications. The application manager works with process managers to plan the processes involved in supporting applications. The application manager will work with the process manager to advise on taxonomy. When there is an incident or problem with an application, then the application manager will be the key resource used in execution. The process manager will remain accountable for designing and process improvement. Agree to a common taxonomy and hand-offs with different parts of the organization, and define a common vocabulary as it relates to managing the applications – for example, agreeing to a common definition of change and configuration management across the plan, build and run stages. Establish a process shared across the plan, build and run stages. Application Delivery (design, architecture, development, testing) and Application Support managers, as well as business development management, need to support and maintain an integrated approach to processes, such as release management and root cause analysis in different application architectures. Work with process owners to define how application-level incidents and problems are tackled, and by whom. Decide which applications need to be instrumented and the type of instrumentation (for example, application response measurement vs. Java Management Extensions), for management based on business and IT key performance indicators. Define the relative criticality of different applications in an application portfolio. Communicate and transfer plans and interfaces between the plan, build and run stages.Delivers quality business systems and enhancements on-time and on-budget.Plans, designs, develops, implements, and maintains data management and software engineering processes, methods and tools.Directs the troubleshooting and resolution of system problems and assumes the role of problem manager as required.Provides technical support and assistance on architecture processes, physical data stores, data access techniques and systems engineering technologies.Maintains current technical expertise to support rapidly changing technology of computers and telecommunications throughout the enterprise.Prepares monthly status reports quantitatively reporting results of staff and business unit activities, i.e. metrics that give visibility to performance, utilization, reliability, availability, and budget.Developmaintain “Application Strategy” for each identified business application in the IT portfolio. An application strategy is a plan to achieve a business outcome via the use of technology.DevelopMaintain application governance guidelines and disciplines.
